Mattia de' Michieli Vitturi

Mattia de' Michieli Vitturi is a senior researcher at the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV), Pisa Section, and Adjunct Faculty at the School of Earth and Space Exploration (SESE), Arizona State University. His research focuses on the mathematical and numerical modelling of volcanic and geophysical flows, including explosive eruptions, volcanic plumes, pyroclastic density currents, granular flows, lava flows, and volcanogenic tsunamis. He develops and maintains open-source numerical models for geophysical applications, using computational modelling for both short-term and long-term hazard analysis to support the assessment and mitigation of risks associated with active volcanic systems.
